Lovato Jr visits Seaside BJJ

Instructor Rafael Lovato Jr.  recently visited Seaside BJJ Academy for a great week of training and finished up with another world class seminar.  We feel very fortunate to have had another oppurtunity to learn from one of the best in the world.  Thanks Rafael!

Gift Takes Bronze at BJJ World Championships

SBJJ Assistant Instructor Nik Gift recently placed 3rd in the 2009 BJJ World Championships on Friday June, 5th.  Nik was on fire and submitted two of his five opponents in the Adult Purple Belt Division.  Way to represent Nik!

Jiu-Jitsu Mini Classes at CB Grade School

Seaside BJJ Academy Instructors Nathan and Zachary Adamson recently paid a visit to Cannon Beach Elementary School to particiapate in the annual mini classes.  The mini classes where designed to bring local artists to CB Elementary to share there art with local students.  "We conducted two hour and half sessions, which covered basic drills and techniques used in BJJ.  We had a great group of kids and look forward to returning next year!"- Zach

Congratulations to Duncan Fenison, Pheonix Oxner, and Luke Verley on there newest promotion to yellow belt.  We are very proud of these little guys progress and the support from there families.  Great work boys!

American Cup Results

Here's the results of the 2nd American Cup, which took place in Los Gatos, Ca. Saturday, April 26th.  Seaside BJJ had just two representatives travel to compete, but managed to bring back 3 medals.  SBJJ student Jesse Vaughan dominated the adult blue belt absolute division, while training partner and good friend James Poupolo was busy doing the same in the purple belt absolute division.

Gift Places 3rd at Subleague Qualifier

Seaside BJJ student Nik Gift, recently took 3rd place in the lightweight advanced divison at the SubLeague Tournament in Hillsboro, Or. on April 4th.  Nik looked great and had tough matches with a local brown and black belt.  Way to represent Nik!

Blue belt Promotion!

Seaside Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy recently had three long time students promoted to Blue Belt this last monday, March 30th.  This was a fun event that included technique demonstration and alot of whipping for these guys.  Congrats to Andy Boles, Josh Austin, and Curt Rogers on there new belts.  Keep up the good work guys!        

 

Revolution 3/7/09 Results

The Seaside Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy recently sent 6 competition team members to the Revolution Tournament near Seattle Wa. on Saturday, March 7th.  The whole competition team showed alot of heart and represented well.  Here are the individual results:

Great training in Oklahoma!

SBJJ Instructor Zach Adamson recently returned from Oklahoma City were he and SBJJ student Jesse Vaughn, spent three weeks with Instructor Rafael Lovato Jr.and his world class team. "This was a great experience for us, the guys out there treat us like family and Lovato has a amazing way of evelating my game." said Adamson.  A special thanks to the the Lovato's, and his guys for taking such good care of us.

 

Demonstration at Astoria Community Church Center

Instructors Nathan and Zachary Adamson recently preformed a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu demonstration at the Astoria Community Church Center for kids ages 3 and up.  This was a fun event aimed at promoting BJJ to the youth in the county.  The kids were infromed about the benefits of BJJ and the importance of self defense. We would like to give a special thanks to our assistant Travis Mickelson and Ms. Marra for having us!
